“Raidho fundamentally is about movement, the movement of sap rising in trees, to winding rivers coursing through the landscape, our blood circulating our bodies, the rise and fall of our chest with breath, ancient roamed animal paths, or the moons path through the celestial sphere. Small Movements are everywhere that accumulate into journeys travelled. From wind blown seed to tree, from spring to river or bird flight to feast. Raidho is all around us.” (Duncan White)
 
"We went to Ryder’s Hill on Dartmoor to feel the energy of Raidho best. Where the moor grasslands stretch out to the horizon, the Ravens swoop across the plain and the wild ponies make their leisurely way to favoured pastures… the wind rustles the tops of the grass heads as butterflies dance between the blades of Bristle Bent, Mat Grass and Rushes. 
 
The horse and rider in this picture represent travelling at its best. No reins are needed to control the horse, the rider simply relaxes into the rhythm of the horses gate as they make their way across the moor together, both beings in harmony. There is no road in this picture, as I wanted to emphasise the individuality of each journey. Horse and rider are forging their own path through the grasslands their tracks lost as the grasses close behind them. As with the butterflies and the ravens the path of choice and mode of travelling is best suited to them and the land they are travelling through.
 
This image and the rune Raidho remind me that the journey is as important as the destination and each journey is individual and unique. 
 
For me this means to go my own way, tread lightly and leave no trace."
