Yarrow: A powerful plant ally with a long list of medicinal properties, but for now we'll just focus on it's skin healing powers! Antibacterial, antiseptic + anti-inflammatory due to its volatile oils, the tannins and salicyclic acid found in Yarrow also help reduce bleeding due to their astringency. Azulene, not just responsible for the blue colour found in yarrow essential oil, but also the stimulation of new tissue for wound healing. Yarrow very quickly helps seal + heal all manner of skin trauma.

Interesting fact... Scientifically known as Achillea millefolium, named after the Greek warrior Achilles, who is said to have treated his soldiers wounds on the battlefield with Yarrow. This is also why it goes by the names soldiers woundwort + allheal.

Ribwort Plantain: Astringent, emollient, anti-microbial + anti-viral, this 'garden weed' is in actual fact a skin healing powerhouse! It also provides wonderful treatment for bleeding, staunching blood flow whilst also encouraging the repair of tissue. Plantain also has a unique drawing out ability, making it effective for the removal of poison (snake, bees, nettle etc) and even splinters!

St John's Wort: Most commonly known for its treatment of mood disorders, this herbaceous plant is also wonderful for the treatment of a plethora of skin conditions! Anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and astringent - St John's Wort also stimulates tissue growth and cell differentiation due to one of it's main ingredients, Hyperforin.

Lavender Essential Oil: With its antiseptic, antifungal + anti-inflammatory properties, lavender is a powerful healer when applied to wounds - increasing cell growth which leads to quicker healing time and the reduction of scarring. Lavender also has the ability to boost blood circulation, enabling more oxygen and nutrients to reach the skin’s surface.

Tea Tree Essential Oil: A powerful oil with antiseptic, anti-fungal + antibiotic properties. This potent essential oil contains around 100 different components, including molecules called terpenes that exhibit antimicrobial properties. Overall a fantastic aid against skin infections, rashes, burns, dandruff and a whole lot more.
